Nature Framed | Swirl

It's going to be a really l-o-n-g winter if I don't find some way to amuse myself.

Amusement has taken the form of arranging my collections of various natural finds into pleasing compositions. It's not just a relaxing, satisfying, creative activity, but an opportunity for introspection.

I've named today's study "Swirl".

What do you see? Which way do you see the swirls move? Up or down? Like smoke or water?

Here's the same photo turned horizontally.

Which way do you prefer the composition? Vertically or horizontally?

Do you feel more movement in one than the other?

I like to think of this movement as something we often times get swept up into.
More often than not, do you find yourself engulfed in a whirlwind, being pulled up into the sky to a land of wonderful day dreams and fantastical adventures.
Or instead, do you find yourself being sucked in and pulled under by a whirlpool?

Which ever direction we travel, coming back to ourselves is important. What keeps you grounded? Who keeps you grounded?

I hope you enjoyed this!
